PAIRS Semi Finals and Finals
We are down to the business end of the pairs and we some great rivalries. The battle of the Rogalski's for sure to see who will have bragging rights within the family home.
MAJOR SEMI FINALS
T.Belcher/I.Corny vs R.Scupham/M.Taylor
H.Larsen/P.Rogalski vs L.Evans/J.Rogalski
A couple of great games here with some excellent leading by both Rick and Tanya. In the skippers contest Mick got the better of Corny and that was the difference in the end. Corny needed to move the jack on the last end a couple of feet to get 5 to win but missed by a couple of inches.
in the battle of the Rogalskis the arm pairing of Harvey and Peter were just that bit more consistent than Jenni and Lina but was a very close game.
PLATE SEMI FINALS
C.Little/P.Walker vs R.Hutch/A.Bartlett
H.Feasey/J.,Rollnik vs T.Evans/Scott
As I couldn't see either of these games i cant say too much but in the end the winners were Hutchy and Arthur and they will play in the final Helen and Joe.
Plate Final
Helen and Joe took on Hutchy and Arthur. In was a game of two halves, Joe/Helen got out to a 10-4 lead and that was were Hutchy/Arthur combo fought back to take the lead at 10-11. The last end came down to a cliffhanger with Helen and Joe getting two to win the plate.
Major Final
This game was going to be classic with the arms of Harvey and Peter taking on the rhyming brothers of Rick and Mick. great leading contest early and some magnificent skipper bowls played by both skips to convert when down.
At the halfway mark it was 9-8 to arms, then a couple of loose ends allowed them to extend their lead to 18-10 and to both win their first title.
Congrats to Peter Rogalski and Harvey as the champs and well done to Mick and Rick for making it to the final.
PAIRS Oct 7 and 14
Great night at Innaloo for our Pairs Championship with an absolute magnificent turnout of 32 players. At one stage we had to cull players so we could fit them in, next year we may have to put an extra week in there to accommodate numbers.
A big thankyou to Paul for organising the sausage sizzle and great supervision of this cooking event by Lina, who made sure Trev didnt burn anything.
In the popstick draw there were some interesting mixes. The statisticians were trying to figure the odds of all Yanchep players being selected on the same rink, 2000 to 1 was quoted from one of our propeller heads.
The competition was tight with 7 of the 16 games played ending within 2 shots or less with 3 games requiring extra ends.
The team of Mark B and Kerry H had both games go to extra end, ending with a 50% ratio.

Round 2 results
Major
Karls team defeated Mike Carey's team 15 to 4
Tony Kay defeated Wayne Olive 16-10
Plate
Keith defeated Arthurs team 15-5
In the finals we saw the weather was fresh but nowhere nearly as cold as the week before. before a massive crowd of 4 we saw Keith Guelfi's team take on Phil Dobie. Again another great game with it going neck and neck all the way to an extra end. Helen placed her first below pretty much just in front of the jack and Phil's tried everything to move and out draw it. But Helens bowl stayed for Keith , Dave, Kerry Hutchinson and Helen to be declared the plate winners.
In the major final we say last years singles and consistency champion Tony take on newly promoted One red Skipper Karl and his crew. Expectations were high especially to see if Kerry Rowlinson could go one better from plate to major winner.
A great game was had and most heads were pretty good. Karl played some blinders to keep his side in the mix. In the end Karls team were 2 down going into the last end, with only the skippers to go Karl was holding 4/5. Tony's first bowl was just a little wide and missed the bowls in front for the stun and run shot, Karl played cover. Tony played a better lined shot, hit the bowls he wanted but he ran a little bit too much through and Karls team scored a 3 to win the game. Well done to Karl, Boothy, Brett and Kerry R as the first champs of the year.
