Past Presidents Sept 22
A slightly fresh night with only a few brave souls jumperless. Our annual game against the past presidents was here and our reputation was on the line after last year losing for the first time in quite a while.
The usual smiling faces were there to greet us a few new faces. 7 rinks took to the playing service with one late pull out from each side to make one triple. The game as always is played in great spirit and as per normal there were a couple of blow out rinks but this time for us only. There some very good bowls heads and sensational bowls from both sides.
The moment of the evening was when i believe someone shouted whos got shot and Terry raised his hand, with bowl clutched and said onto the world, "I have the shot bowl here." With a confidence not seen in any sporting arena since Jesse Owens raised his hand a loft in victory on winning the Olympics in 1936. The field went deadly quiet as they waited for this momentus moment to unfold, the bowl left his hand perfectly and his team watched in awe as the bowl had perfect line.................................................... but then finished 3 metres short. A great awwwwwhh was released by Terry then a good chuckle.
The game resumed and we went on to have a convincing win against the Past Presidents.
Our best performing Skip and team were Karl, Rob, Kerry and Mark well done team.
Our wine giverawayerers were Tony, Leon, Kerry Carey and Ralph.
Some party pies and fellowship enjoyed after the game.
THORNLIE BC Sept 15
Well could the night start off any more perfect. Lesley was obviously speaking to the boss man and watching over us to ensure the night was perfect. The fellowship and comradery follows on perfectly from South Perth as both these clubs are nothing but generous and really look after us when we come there.
Paz cooked burgers for everyone and they were delicious. Two greens were ready for our games with 7 rinks each. Only a few jumpers could be seen across the greens. Our teams looked very balanced.
Mark "Eric" Belchy strutted towards the green proud as punch as his brand new bowls that had never touched the ground were about to get their first use. The crowd was deadly silent as he came to the mat, about to witness a moment that could go down in annuls of history. Corny was eager to see the prowess of the Leeming Novice Champion take a massive leap for bowlingkind. As soon as it left his hand we knew something was amiss, had Henselite played a joke on him and got the circles on the wrong side as we watched the bowl go 4 rinks over. As always the weight was perfect. Eric took it in his stride, determined to show that his weight was no fluke. On the first two ends he had 3 toucha's and yes on the right rink. Parity in the world had been restored.
A great game of bowls with plenty of sensational shots and a lot of banter was had. It was going to be a tight game with few blow out scores on each team and few close ones.
In the end the win came down to Corny's (he is claiming this) rink as he snuck over for a one shot win over the good Dobie, yes Steve, as the WAPBC won 106-105.
Darren received the Peter Ball Trophy after last year we had a draw.
Our best performing rink was Mike C, Rob, Bill and Trevor.
Our wine giverawayerers were Karl, Jeff, Kerry H and Harvey.
Food after the game was enjoyed by all and another large spread put on Paz and his Thornlie Crew. To show the generosity of these great people an anonymous donation of $300 to legacy and also the game fees of $140. So a big thankyou to Thornlie and we look forward to next year.
RIP Lesley

SOUTH PERTH BC Sept 9
Well our first hitout of the year was played last night. In what can be described as a perfect night. Slightest breeze, clearest night, fantastic greens and as usual the greatest company. Our friends at South Perth as always with Ryan Havercroft at the helm and Carol behind the bar the hospitatility is always greatly appreciated. Ryan and his crew provided hamburgers before the game.
28 players from each side were present and 7 rinks took to the green. A good challenge was on the cards as South Perth had quite a few of their jets out. We only had one turncoat for the night..Karl who played for the Millers as they were short a number or two but in the end legacy is the winner.
The lightning greens ran perfect with a few struggles to be observed across the rinks. A couple of rinks were on a small hiding but for the first game of the season on slick greens this was not unexpected.
In the end only two rinks managed a win for us. Arthur Bartlett and his crew won by one but our bestest went to Corny, Dave, Marg and Ralph who won the bottle of wine by a great team effort and won by 14.
A number of teams were neck and neck to be the wine giverawayerers in the end the last team out on the green dropped a 3 on the last end to be our first illustrious winners, Darren, Shonky, Bill and Tanya. The opposition where the first to have the newly labelled bottles.
The overall score was 135 to 100.
Both winners of the wine South Perth and us had Ralphs leading......bet this hasnt happened too often.
Thanks again to the SPBC for having us and we look forward to seeing them again in December for our singles competition.
